At the University of the Cumberlands students wishing to complete their Sixth Year (Kentuckys Rank I), have the option of taking a variety of graduate courses totaling thirty hours to earn Rank I and additional pay. Entrance requirements include a having a valid teaching license, a Masters degree in Education, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and passing scores on Licensure Examinations (PRAXIS, NTE, etc.). Rank I certification as a Reading and Writing Specialist requires the completion of 30 semester hours.
