Course requirements for candidates seeking certification as Director of Special Education Level I consist of an eighteen hour program of studies. Candidates may elect to complete a thirty hour program leading to Rank I. Level II certification (for certificate renewal) requires an additional nine hours of course work.
The requirements for certification as a Director of Special Education include the following
(1) A master�s degree in education
(2) Three years of full time experience as a teacher or school psychologist with a minimum of one year as a teacher of exceptional children or school psychologist
(3) A completed application including an official college/university transcript(s), letters of recommendation and acceptance by the Graduate Admissions Committee
(4) Qualify for a Kentucky teaching certificate or school psychologist certificate
(5) A 3.0 or higher G.P.A. on a 4.0 scaleCourse requirements for candidates seeking certification as Director of Special Education Level I consist of an eighteen hour program of studies. (6) The curriculum contract must be completed and approved by the Graduate Advisor, Director of Graduate Program and Registrar prior to exiting the program. For Kentucky certification the candidate must also complete a TC1 for Rank I status if they have elected to complete the thirty hour program.
Course requirements for the Director of Special Education certification are based on the particular certification level sought and are listed on the Planned Program/Curriculum Contract.
