Course requirements for candidates for certification as Superintendent Level I consist of an eighteen hour program of studies. Candidates may elect to complete a thirty hour program leading to Rank I. Level II certification (for certificate renewal) requires an additional nine hours of course work.
The requirements for certification include the following:
(1) A master�s degree in education with a minimum of a 3.0 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale
(2) two years experience as a school principal, supervisor of instruction, guidance counselor, director of pupil personnel, director of special education, school business administrator, local district coordinator of vocational education, or a coordinator, administrator or supervisor of district-wide service. Other administrative experience may be substituted for this requirement with the approval of the Educational Professional Standards Board.
(3) Three years of full time teaching experience consisting of at least 140 days per year. Each applicant must have successfully completed the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program or have two years of successful teaching experience outside the state of Kentucky .
(4) A completed application including an official college/university transcript(s), 3 letters of recommendation and acceptance by the Graduate Admissions Committee
(5) The curriculum contract must be completed and approved by the Graduate Advisor, Director of Graduate Program and Registrar prior to exiting the program. For Kentucky certification the candidate must also complete a TC1 for Rank I status or certification.
(6) Qualifications for a Kentucky teaching certificate.
