The University of the Cumberlands offers a Master of Arts in Education (MA. Ed.) degree which is designed for
individuals who have earned a valid teaching certificate (including completion of Teacher Internship or two years
teaching out-of-state) and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The MA. Ed. program offers
certification in the following areas:
Administrative Instructional Leadership - School Principal
Reading and Writing Specialist
Individuals in the MA. Ed. program may also specialize in the following areas without additional certification for
the purpose of Rank II classification or professional advancement in their area(s) of previously earned
licensure:
Elementary (P-5)
Middle School (5-9)
Secondary (8-12 English, Math or Social Studies)
5-12 (Business & Marketing)
P-12 (Art, Health, Integrated Music, or Physical Education)
Special Education (P-12 in Learning & Behavior Disorders or "LBD")
